Sootys Choppers web site goes live
We have now switched Sootys Choppers web site live, it's available here:www.sootys-choppers.eu
This site was built bespokely for Sootys Choppers, there is no off-the-shelf e-commerce package or content management system here - just tailored exactly for their needs.
This project suffered a few set backs after the Sootys suppliers decided that they would not provide the images for the products in a manageable way. They did send the codes, names, prices and descriptions of each product, but sadly not the product images. This probably doesn't sound too bad... but when you consider they have over 70,000 products available through the web site, you can see why its an issue!
Sootys have had the un-enviable job of matching up products with images. We did write a script to help them out, but this can only match images that have the correct product code in their title. Which was about 5%!
So the site has gone live, with the photos and categories continuing to be matched to the products, so the site will get bigger and bigger over the coming weeks.
The web site has got some cool features, like css based galleries, a forum, integration with a Spanish merchant account (slow progress setting that up!) and a full besoke content management system.
